Covid-19 Outbreak

Illingworth would like to take this opportunity to inform our colleagues and partners as to our thinking and proposed actions as a result of the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. Since there could be an impact on our projects, we wish to relay our plans for managing the situation at a project level across the Illingworth organisation.

Firstly, and foremost, we wish to stress that as an organisation the health, safety and welfare of our employees, patients, clients, colleagues and those involved with all aspects of our work including the general public, is of paramount importance to us. We wish to reassure everyone that we are continuously monitoring and reviewing government and other authority guidelines to ensure that the actions we take as an organisation are in line with these guidelines and that we act in the best interests of all stakeholders.

Illingworth’s current stance is that we are taking a position of ‘business as usual with caveats’. Essentially, Illingworth will continue with daily activities where this is consistent with government and other authority guidelines and does not place the health and well-being of our employees and their families, patients, sites staff and other contacts at undue risk. At a company level we will be forming a committee to continually assess the situation and we will provide updates at this level when there are developments that significantly change our position.

As you can appreciate the considerations are extensive as are the potential resulting actions. We will maintain a continuous and proactive communication channel with our colleagues and partners. We will require a pragmatic review of the proposals with an understanding that we do not necessarily have all the answers, that plans and mitigations will change and that ultimately there may be adverse impacts to the study that cannot be mitigated that result in patients no longer being able to comply with the protocol. This will then be an ongoing review and assessment process and plans will be updated as often as needed to ensure that our mitigations remain in line with local guidance and protect the health and well-being of all concerned.

As hospitals become more involved with front line treatment and as a provider of mobile research nurse solutions, Illingworth recognises that there is a potential for us to provide greater support to the studies we are working on. We would be pleased to discuss this with our colleagues and partners but ask for an understanding that all additional tasks must be appropriately delegated, contracted, protocols and documents amended, staff trained and other procedures in place to conduct them to appropriate standards.

We recognise that this is a difficult time for everyone involved in the healthcare businesses but please be assured that we are giving this our full attention and we will take all reasonable actions to deliver our services and studies per the original plans.
